|Personal History||Morgan was born at Taggart’s Colony on the planet Epiphany. He is of Scottish and Native American (Cree) decent. Taggart’s Colony settlers wanted a simpler life, away from the bounding technology.
Morgan grew up fishing, hunting and learning. He became interested in medicine at an early age, working with the colonies healers. Holistic medicine fascinated him and and his studies branched out, reading about other races, their histories, native medicines and their studies as they reached out into space.
He came across books from the Denobulan Dr. Phlox who had served aboard the Enterprise NX and he decided that was a path he’d like to tread. He applied to Startfleet Medical when he was 18 and was accepted, spending the next 6 years applying himself, though struggling with the ‘artificial’ feeling of his surroundings and the bare crusts of community compared to what he was used to.
Morgan did his best to involve himself with student life through membership in various clubs, organizations, and groups. He took side studies in engineering, recognizing that he enjoyed working with his hands.
He developed a fascination with cooking as well, believing that all life forms shared one thing that could draw them together: the need for sustenance.
After graduating from Star Fleet medial, he volunteered for a posting at Gallor’s Colony on Vorran III. A posting that challenged, inspired and recharged him. Being on the Frontier re-affirmed his life’s choice.
His next posting was to the USS Heyabusa, where he served for three years. Though he wasn’t too enthused, he learned how a ship can grow a sense of community and eventually a family that came with exploring and sharing experiences.
While aboard the Heyabusa, Morgan was TDY’d to Starfleet for a year, instructing in survival first aid and surveying indigenous medical practices.
Nearing the end of his TDY, he was informed by Fleet Bureau of Personnel that, due to a critical staffing request, he was being reassigned to the USS Defiant.
Morgan thought of protesting, but was headed off by the Heyabusa’s Captain and CMO, who told him it was too good an opportunity to pass up, career wise.
