Engineering blues

Mission: Episode 2: Inevitable
Location: Engineering/Officers quarters
Timeline: Sometime after Security Blues

Thyra's shift had ended and her shore leave started. Because she had been busy at the time she hadn't made plans just yet and Morgan was still busy in sickbay, so she might as well go make a round on the ship to meet some of the other crew. And she now found herself at the entrance of engineering. She minored engineering, so she was curious about it. She walked on to engineering and was amazed by the huge engines. The Demetor wasn't that big of a ship, and she only been in engineering there once or twice. It was a busy place. busier than the bridge.

She hoped she wasn't disturbing the engineers, but it was quite interesting to watch them work, with their tools and such. She knew how to do minor repairs on the systems around the ship, but she wasn't sure if she would be able to go about on the engines. The warp core, a magnificent piece of technology. Without getting in the way of the Engineers she walked around a bit observing them in their work.

Connor clocked the Andorian wandering about Engineering, watching his people work. It wasn't he had a problem with it, but he wasn't exactly expecting guests.

"You're new." He said with a grin as he walked over to her "What can I do for you?"

Hearing the voice of the chief engineer she turned putting a big grin on her face. She looked him up and down and noticed the pulled up sleeves and the messy hair. She knew this from her previous encounter with the leads Engineer. They were hard working and passionate people. "You must be Lieutenant Burton. I am Ensign Sh'shraaqir, chief communications officer. I am here to get to know you better and to see what I can do for you." She was still smiling.

"I swear, everyone round here keeps asking what they can do for me." Connor laughed "My job is to make sure everything runs smoothly for you guys. So I'll suggest what I suggested to the Captain. Just send down some beer and pizza from time to time. Mine's a Budweiser classic and one with extra cheese and all the meat toppings you can find."

"I am sure I can find something like that," Thyra said, "But wouldn't you rather come out of here and have that stuff in a different environment, like the lounge or the messhall?" She shrugged.

"I guess?" Connor asked, unsure of how he was supposed to respond "Sorry, I was half brought up in shipyards. Dad was on the Constitution Class design team. Grease monkey through and through right here."

Thyra nodded and said, "I see, well then, let's go have some fun. You go get a shower and I will get you some pizza and beer in the messhall. How about we meet there in 30 minutes? And I know you outrank me, but I am not taking no for an answer now."

"Fair enough." Connor said, before quipping "One question. What's a shower?"

"Oh good grieve," The Andorian exclaimed. "Clean yourself up. You can't go eating like this." She just grabbed his arm. "Where would your quarters be?" She asked as she tugged him along a bit.

"Deck 6, section D." Connor noted "Right on the junction with section E."

Thyra tugged Connor along to a lift. She pushed him in as she called for deck 6. She then continued to say, "At least you remember where your quarters are. The Engineers I know often need computer guidance as they hardly spend time there. Some even have a stretcher set up in engineering. You're not one of those engineers right?"

"No...." He lied "But my quarters are kind of cluttered at the moment. Boxes everywhere. Most of them with, uh, things, in them."

"Well," She started, "I would sure hope there are things in those boxes, otherwise that is a huge waste of space in your quarters." They got off the turbo lift and looked around the deck. She then pointed in to a direction, "That way, let's go." They stopped in front of the doors. "Here we are, now how about you let us in so I could show you what a shower is. This is an officer quarters, they are different from the quarters I am in, which I share with a roommate." She tried in her head really hard to remember the lay out of the officer's quarters.

"Fine..." He relented as he opened the door "You asked for it."

He stepped inside, gesturing for her to follow. He hadn't been lying about the boxes, there were dozens, ship models poking out of several of them. He moved over to the coffee table, picking up the NX-Refit model on it and setting it back on its stand.

"I told you there were things in the boxes, and that it was a mess." He shrugged "I like to collect ship models..."

Thyra picked up one of the models. "Well it's nice that you have a hobby. I paint landscapes and sometimes people on request." She carefully put them back in the box. She then pushed to the shower. She set it and then said as the water heated up and the stea came in to the room. "So I see you in the lounge in thirty minutes then. Oh, and it helps if you take off your clothes." She smirked before walking to the doors. "I'll have that beer and pizza waiting for you."

"I can set my own shower." He rolled his eyes "I'm an Engineer, not an idiot."

Thyra raised an eyebrow. "I have been pulling you around the ship and this is what you get upset about." She shrugged. "Hurry up, or you'll be having cold pizza and warm beer." She giggled and then walked to the door. "See you in thirty minutes. So take your time."

"Women..." He muttered to himself as she left.
