Episode 2: Inevitable
Location: Main Bridge, Deck One
The bridge was bizarrely quiet, other than the subtle sounds of alarms in the distance and the occasional buzz of sparks. The visuals told a different. Each display was still intermittently cutting out, or dissolving into chaos entirely.
Claire Lafayette emerged from the access panel under the science terminal. "Ok, emergency backups are in place for the sensor array. You're clear to reset everything without making me lose the lock on the Captain."
Morgan ran a hand over his face, idly noting that he needed a shave as he worked through the computer. A stray thought passed from his mind to his lips as he went along. "I just hope the computer doesn't somehow take this as a way to treat living, breathing people. Doing a shut down to try and clear an illness or injury is not generally a good idea."
After more time, the Doctor finally looked up. "Well, I think it's ready. I think Lieutenant Burton and Ensign Sh'shraaqir and myself have went through it at least a dozen times each." He turned to Niamh and said, "We're ready, Commander."
Niamh turned away from the console she'd been using to monitor the progress of the teams she'd sent out before turning back and expanding the virus data so that it filled her screen. She wasn't an expert, but her schooling had started off similarly to any other medical officer given her at least enough of a foundation to understand the work the team had created. Seeing nothing that stood out too much in terms of failure she returned her attention towards the trio, "Execute the program, Doctor" she ordered.
Morgan closed his eyes for a moment, then keyed in a sequence. On his viewer, the computer popped up a visual representative of the procedure and Defiant popped up, the virus depicted in red and an overlay of gold appeared as the program ran.
